Central Vacuum Systems, Units & Accessories

A central vacuum uses a power unit installed away from the living space, usually in a garage, basement or utility room. Tubing inside the walls connects the power unit to inlets around the home. You plug a lightweight hose into an inlet, and dirt travels through the tubing to the power unit's bag or canister.

Central vacuum power units are typically larger than the motors in portable vacuums, so many systems provide stronger, more consistent suction. Actual performance depends on the power unit, the length of the tubing runs and the quality of the installation. Our team can help match a power unit to the size of your home.

In the room you're cleaning, yes. The motor sits in the garage, basement or utility room, so what you hear while cleaning is mainly airflow through the hose. Many power units also include an exhaust muffler.

Many households with allergies choose a central vacuum because dirt and fine dust are carried away to the power unit outside the living area, and the exhaust can be vented outdoors. This means less fine dust is blown back into the room than with some portable vacuums.

Yes. Central vacuums can be retrofitted into most existing homes, with tubing routed through closets, basements, attics or walls. Our in-house installation team reviews your layout and recommends inlet locations before the work begins.

Empty the canister or replace the bag when it's full, and clean or replace the filter as recommended by the manufacturer. Check the hose and attachments for blockages from time to time. If you notice a drop in suction, our service team can inspect and repair the system.
